Mountain View Police Detectives Secure International Extradition of a Sexual Assault SuspectMVPD detectives secured the extradition of a serial sexual assault suspectPost Date:10/24/2025 7:53 a.m. Mountain View, CA - In 2024, the Mountain View Police Department's Crimes Against Persons Unit launched an investigation after two men reported being sexually assaulted by the suspect, Franklin Enrique Sarceno Orla, a former Mountain View resident. After Orla was charged by the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, he fled the United States and was later located in Guatemala. After several months of tireless efforts by the Mountain View Police Department and the agencies listed below, Orla's extradition was authorized. Orla was returned to the United States on October 23, 2025. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on 46 counts with over 60 victims stemming from the 2024 sexual assault investigation. Orla's capture and extradition were made possible thanks to key international coordination between the U.S. Marshals Service, the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, the U.S. Department of State's Diplomatic Security Service, the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala, Guatemalan authorities, and the Justice Department's Office of International Affairs, who worked together to gather evidence and bring him to justice.
