Clark joined by Arkansas Attorney General as co-chair
Attorney General Charity Clark today announced she has been appointed co-chair of the National Association of Attorneys General's (NAAG's) "Artificial Intelligence (AI) , Internet Safety, Cyber Privacy and Security Committee." The primary mission of the Committee is to lead a coalition of 52 state and territory attorneys general in their efforts to advocate for consumer protection laws in the online space. Attorney General Clark will lead the Committee in establishing guardrails for the use of AI to ensure a safe online environment for children and consumers, and to protect the privacy and security of consumers online. Attorney General Clark will be joined in co-chairing this bipartisan group of attorneys general with Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin.
Attorney General Clark offered the following in response to her appointment:
"As Attorney General, I am committed to protecting Vermonters, in all the many facets of their lives. In the age of 24/7 corporate surveillance, Vermonters - and all Americans - deserve better privacy protections. I have long been a privacy advocate for Vermonters, and I believe there is work left to be done.
Artificial intelligence is a frontier with tremendous opportunity - and danger - without appropriate regulation. I look forward to leading my fellow attorneys general as we work collaboratively to safeguard consumers and promote responsible innovation."
