OIB Workshop: Establishing and Maintaining Mentally Healthy Workplace Environments

OIB Workshop: Establishing and Maintaining Mentally Healthy Workplace Environments

Inclusion and Belonging, Office of Monday October 21, 2024

The Office of Inclusion & Belonging will present "Establishing and Maintaining Mentally Healthy Workplace Environments" on Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in Chappell Hall Room 111. Dr. Steve Wilson, Director of GC Counselling Services, will facilitate.

It's been four years since the global pandemic. The workplace continues to adapt to the new normal of work; however, this new normal has seen an increase in stress and anxiety. Even before the pandemic, 1 in 5 adults struggled with mental health issues-and that number is only rising. When workers struggle with mental health conditions, the signs are not always apparent and even when a condition is disclosed, there may be a stigma attached.

In this workshop, participants will learn:

  • The signs and impact of mental health distress in the workplace
  • The benefits of talking about and improving mental health at work
  • How managers and supervisors can support employees' mental health
  • How to work with others to make your workplace more mentally healthy for everyone
  • Ways to reach out and support a colleague in distress

Please register to attend this workshop. If you have any questions, contact Jennifer Birch, Education Outreach & Training Coordinator, at 478-445-7441 or [email protected].
