The series of meetings were held from 18 to 23 July 2026 and concluded with the commemorative events marking the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) on 24 July 2026, including the signing ceremony of the Instrument of Accession to the TAC for Lithuania, Sweden, Romania, and Poland, and the High-level Conference of the High Contracting Parties to the TAC. Representatives from ASEAN Committees in Third Countries and International Organisations (ACTCs) also participated in the briefing virtually.
SG Dr. Kao shared the key outcomes of the meetings, emphasising ASEAN's continued central role in shaping the regional architecture, the enduring value of ASEAN-led mechanisms in fostering dialogue and cooperation, and the strong commitment of ASEAN's external partners to supporting the implementation of the ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future. The series of meetings also laid the groundwork for the upcoming 49th ASEAN Summit and related Summits, to be held in Manila, in November this year. The Briefing was livestreamed to the public via the ASEAN Secretariat's YouTube channel.
