Senate Commerce Announces Nomination Hearing for Howard Lutnick to Lead Department of Commerce

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, will convene a nomination hearing for Howard Lutnick, President Donald Trump's nominee to be U.S. Secretary of Commerce. The nomination hearing will immediately follow an executive session to consider the rules governing the committee for the 119th Congress, which will begin at 10:00 AM EST on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.

Upon announcing Lutnick's nomination hearing, Sen. Cruz released the following statement:

"Howard Lutnick is an excellent choice to lead the Department of Commerce, and his vast experience will serve him well in his mission to promote America's unlimited entrepreneurial spirit. Mr. Lutnick will play a key role in unleashing unprecedented innovation and ensuring our nation's job creators are well equipped to expand opportunities for good-paying jobs."

Sen. Cruz met with the nominee on December 9, 2024, where they discussed the Department of Commerce's important role in promoting economic growth, job creation, and innovative technologies.
