The City of Grand Junction Celebrates Bike Month

May is Bike Month. Through partnerships with local organizations and community stakeholders, the City will be assisting with various events, programs, and educational resources aimed at promoting bicycle safety.

Upcoming City-hosted Bike Month Events:

  • Monument Trail Ribbon Cutting- Friday, May 2 at 4 p.m. at the Lunch Loops Trail Head
  • Bicycle and Pedestrian Counts- May 3,6, and 8. Volunteers can register online
  • Bike to Work Day- Friday, May 16, 7-9 a.m. at City Hall

In addition to these events, the City encourages the community to take advantage of free educational resources available online. Whether you're looking for tips on safe riding, how to commute by bike and how to share the road with a bicyclist, or where to find local bike routes resources are available online.

These efforts are closely tied to the adopted city strategies derived from direct feedback from the community, as provided in the City's Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan, Comprehensive Plan, and noted as a top community priority in the 2024 Community Satisfaction Survey, which includes safe, connected, and accessible transportation options for all users. As part of the City's purpose to provide essential infrastructure and public safety services, these plans guide efforts to promote transportation choices, share safety education, and support healthier, more connected communities.
