Youth Violence Strike Force Recovered a Firearm After a Traffic Stop in Dorchester

At about 8:28 PM, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested O'Neal Hall, 46, of East Boston, on firearm related charges.

Officers were conducting motor vehicle traffic enforcement in the area of Quincy Street and Howard Avenue. Officers observed a motor vehicle without the rear license plate illuminated. Officers activated their cruiser's emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.

Officers made contact with the operator of the vehicle, who advised officers that he did not have a license on his person. Officers obtained the operator's identity information and determined that he did not have an active license.

Officers requested the operator to exit the vehicle and began to conduct a motor vehicle inventory search. Officers located a firearm from inside the vehicle and placed the suspect into handcuffs. The firearm was later determined to be a Century Arms Cenik Mette MC9 with seven rounds in the magazine. Officers also located a plastic bag containing crack cocaine from the suspect's pants pocket.

Hall was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, and Possession of Class B. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
