Between July and September 2025, a member of the legislative assembly of Manitoba received multiple letters from an unknown person which contained racist comments; including a threat of violence.
The Winnipeg Police Service was notified and the Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and a suspect was later identified.
On April 18, 2026, the Major Crimes Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, executed a search warrant at a residence in the northwest area of the city.
A 72-year-old man man was taken into custody and is facing the following charges:
He was released on an Undertaking.
