Horace Cooper: Preemptive Pardons Put Targets on Recipients’ Backs

21 Jan 2025Horace Cooper: Preemptive Pardons Put Targets on Recipients' Backs

The recipients of former President Biden's preemptive pardons shouldn't be breathing any easier. In fact, they should be on high alert.

According to Project 21 Chairman Horace Cooper, a former constitutional law professor, the pardons only serve to clarify where further accountability is likely needed.

On today's episode of "Evening Edit," Horace told Fox Business host Elizabeth MacDonald:

This is more akin to out in the battlefield… where you use an electronic marker to identify the particular target that you want to reach.

These pardons tell us that Biden's family members have engaged in crime, tell us that there were criminals on the J6 committee. This makes it easier to find out…

The pardons are retrospective. Going forward, it's going to lead to either accountability or they have to reject them so that they can maintain their Fifth Amendment rights.

On Monday, during NTD News' coverage of President Trump's inauguration, Horace made the additional point that Biden's pardon policies are unprecedented:

We've not seen an outgoing administration issue pardons for family members before. We've not seen the kinds of protections that were given for folks who had never even been identified for criminal action. …. Normally we wait until we identify specific problems, crimes or issues before a pardon will ensue.
