ATLANTA - State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Savannah), in partnership with the Urban League of Greater Atlanta and representatives from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA), will host a virtual town hall meeting as part of his "After the 2026 General Assembly" series on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 4 - 6 p.m. via Microsoft Teams.
Beginning from 4 - 5 p.m., representatives from the Urban League of Greater Atlanta will lead a training session focused on grant writing and identifying funding opportunities for agencies, nonprofits, churches and municipalities.
From 5 - 6 p.m., feature representatives from DCA will provide an overview of several housing initiatives and highlight grant and funding opportunities recently approved in House Bill 973, the Amended Fiscal Year 2026 budget. This includes $45 million for the State Housing Trust Fund to address homelessness, as well as an additional $5 million dedicated to supporting homeless veterans.
Rep. Gilliard highlights that this town hall is part of an ongoing series of virtual town halls that he will be hosting in partnership with various agencies and organizations.
