Neal Statement on the March 2026 Jobs Report

SPRINGFIELD, MA-Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released the March 2026 jobs report:

"Today's report underscores what the American people already feel-downward revisions and flat wages in an economy on shaky ground. Workers and families are still being squeezed by rising costs, and now, they must contend with the economic fallout and high gas prices of an endless war. This is exactly what Democrats warned would happen under Trump's failed economic agenda.

"To make matters even worse, the President is doubling down and slapping 100 percent tariffs on prescription drugs, raising prices overnight and threatening jobs in one of the few sectors still holding the labor market together.

"Higher costs, fewer jobs, backroom deals with Big Pharma, and no money for your health care or child care because Trump is too busy spending billions a day overseas. That's the reality of the Trump economy, and it's safe to say, you deserve better."
