Idaho kids in foster care will have the chance to meet and play games alongside Boise State student-athletes on the famous BLUE turf at Albertsons Stadium during the Fostering Future Broncos event on Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Hosted by the Department of Health and Welfare (DHW), Boise State Athletics, BroncoLife, and Freedom Youth Foundation, this special evening celebrates Idaho's foster youth and families while highlighting the positive impact of sports, teamwork, and mentorship.

"We're excited to once again offer this unforgettable experience for foster youth and families from across Idaho," said DHW Family and Community Partnerships Administrator Laura Denner. "The BLUE turf at Albertsons Stadium is a symbol of Idaho pride, and this event gives children in foster care a chance to create memories and connect with inspiring role models."

The event will feature games, activities, and personal time with Boise State student-athletes from a variety of sports, including football, softball, gymnastics, golf, beach volleyball, and soccer. The goal is to provide a fun, encouraging environment that fosters confidence, connection, and community support.

"Our student-athletes look forward to this event each year," said Sara Whiles, Boise State associate athletic director, BroncoLife and Varsity B. "It's an opportunity to share the joy of being a Bronco and to celebrate Idaho's amazing foster families."

Shane Hanson, founder and CEO of the Freedom Youth Foundation, said sports play a powerful role in helping youth in foster care build self-esteem and life skills.

"Sports empower kids by giving them teamwork, confidence, and a sense of belonging," he said. "Meeting college student-athletes who've worked hard to reach their goals can show what's possible."

Families will enjoy autograph sessions, photos on the BLUE turf, and plenty of time to play and connect. Kids are encouraged to wear athletic shoes and dress for the weather.
