Cambridge Police charged Robert Sullivan, 42, unhoused with a last known address in Boston, following an arrest in Porter Square on Thursday for multiple offenses related to the unlawful possession of a firearm, trafficking of illegal narcotics, and stolen property.
On Thursday, May 14th shortly after 10pm, patrol officers in Porter Square observed a male, later identified as Sullivan, with a bike that had been recently reported stolen. Officers stopped Sullivan to investigate the bike theft and subsequently confirmed the bike was in-fact stolen. During the interaction, Sullivan was frisked for weapons after informing officers he had a pocketknife. This frisk located a loaded, 9mm handgun, a crime as Sullivan does not have a license to carry a firearm.
Once in custody, a search of Sullivan's bag yielded large quantities of substances that are suspected to be heroin / fentanyl, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and prescription narcotics, much of which was packaged in a manner consistent with street level drug sales. Additionally, his bag contained an electric stun gun along with identification documents for another person.
