New Brunswick City and Community Partners Gear Up for Back-to-School Events
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (August 18, 2026) - The City is gearing up to support local students ahead of the new academic year, led by the annual "Rock the Block 2026" celebration hosted by the New Brunswick Police Department.
Set for Saturday, Aug. 29, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Roosevelt Elementary School, 83 Livingston Ave., the major city event will offer free backpacks, haircuts, giveaways, games, food, face painting, and an appearance by the Batmobile.
The community efforts kick off the week prior on Saturday, Aug. 22, when Abundant Life Family Worship Church holds a Back-to-School Drive from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Recreation Park, 7 Pine St., offering local family resources ahead of the Hub City Caribbean Festival from 2-6 p.m.
