Las Vegas, NV, Oct. 12, 2025 - The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will present its prestigious Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award to a distinguished business aviation professional for career accomplishments during the National Business Aviation Association's Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) in Las Vegas.
Charles Taylor is recognized as the first aircraft mechanic. He was a collaborator with the Wright brothers and is credited with designing and building the engine for their first successful flight in 1903.
His namesake award honors individuals with at least 50 years of dedicated service in aviation maintenance. The award, FAA says, celebrates "exemplary aviation expertise, distinguished professionalism, and steadfast commitment" to aviation maintenance.
