On September 5, 2026, just before 7:30 p.m., North District General Patrol officers responded to a multi-suite residence in the 300 block of College Avenue for the report of a fire.
Responding officers learned upon arrival that the suspect in the matter was a tenant who after setting the fire, retreated to his suite and refused to comply with police. A use of force encounter took place, and he was taken into custody without incident. No other tenants were injured as a result of the fire.
James Andrew LAFERRIERE, (46), has been charged with Arson with Disregard for Human Life x 4 and detained in custody.
