Mayor Kevin Coleman to Open Warming Centers in Response to Extreme Weather

In response to the extreme cold temperatures, Mayor Kevin Coleman will open several warming centers.

  • Westland City Hall, 36300 Warren Road; Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

William P. Faust Public Library, 6123 Central City Parkway, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m., Friday through Saturday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.

  • Westland Friendship Senior Center, 1119 Newburgh Road, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
  • Jefferson Barns Community Vitality Center, 32150 Dorsey, Monday through Wednesday, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m., Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Westland Fire Department:
  • Fire Station #1, 35710 Central City Parkway, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., 7 days a week.
  • Westland Police Department Lobby, 36701 Ford Rd, 24 hours, 7 days a week.
  • Full Gospel Temple, 34033 Palmer Rd., has an overnight warming center. For more information, please contact Reverend Tim Cokely at (734) 772-2230.

If you know or see someone out in the cold, please contact 911 or the non-emergency police line at (734) 722-9600. Our emergency personnel will work diligently to ensure they are taken to a safe place to stay warm.

Residents are also asked to keep our four legged friends in mind during this extreme cold weather. Animals cannot handle being left outside in temperatures below freezing for more than a few minutes without being at extreme risk for hypothermia, frostbite and even death. Please report findings of animals left outside without proper shelter to animal control at the non-emergency police line at (734) 722-9600.
