NEW: Consumer Sentiment Dips Again Amid Rising Prices and Disappearing Job Opportunities Arrow

New economic data on consumer sentiment shows that Americans are fed up with Donald Trump's economy. Consumer confidence fell again as consumers continue to be pessimistic about the economy and concerned about high prices and a weakening job market.

RealClearMarkets' Economic Optimism Index also dropped again in October - and in yet another sign of fading trust in this administration's handling of the economy, confidence in federal economic policies weakened compared to September.

The New York Federal Reserve released a similar report this week, which showed consumers have little confidence in Trump's economy and expect inflation to increase even more amid Trump's chaotic trade war. Despite Trump's claims that there is "no inflation," economic data continues to show that Trump's disastrous economic policies will only worsen inflation and benefit his rich friends in the top 1% - while working families get thrown under the bus.

Earlier data from The Conference Board shows that consumer confidence plunged in September, falling more than expected to its lowest point since April as Americans reported the largest-ever one-month decline in their views on their current financial situation. Confidence in job availability fell for the ninth straight month, and recession fears rose to their highest level since May.

In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

"Trump is singlehandedly wrecking the economy and forcing more and more Americans into financial hardship. Working families are watching prices climb and jobs disappear as they dip into savings and worry about how to make ends meet. What is Donald Trump doing to help? Nothing. He's more focused on building his White House ballroom while refusing to prevent health care prices for 22 million people from going up, and bragging about his trade war that is decimating America's farmers. Democrats have shown up day after day, committed to lowering prices and protecting Americans' health care, while Trump sends the economy into even further chaos."

Yesterday, Trump claimed he's built "the best economy we've ever had," but that's not the reality for working families. Prices on everything from groceries to utilities to Halloween candy keep climbing while jobs are disappearing. Credit scores this year have fallen at the fastest rate since the Great Recession as families struggle with high cost of living. To make matters worse, one in three Americans indicated they have no emergency savings set aside because of high inflation and frozen wages. As working families struggle to get by, billionaires are getting even richer from Trump's budget, which guts health care for working families to give massive tax handouts to the ultrarich.
