Gabriella Passidomo Smith '19L Elected Chairman of the Florida Public Service Commission Passidomo Smith will lead the commission's efforts to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective utility service for Floridians.

The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) unanimously elected Commissioner Gabriella Passidomo Smith '19L as Chairman for a two-year term beginning January 2, 2026. Passidomo Smith, was first appointed to the FPSC in 2021 and reappointed for another term through 2027. She will lead the Commission's ongoing efforts to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective utility service for Floridians.

"I am deeply honored by the trust my colleagues have placed in me to serve as Chairman," said Passidomo Smith in a release from the FPSC. "The Commission's work directly impacts millions of Floridians, and I look forward to leading with transparency, accountability, and a steadfast commitment to ensuring reliable service and fair rates as our state continues to grow."

Passidomo Smith is a member of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) and was recently appointed to the NARUC Board of Directors for a four-year term. Within NARUC, she represents the Southeastern region on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission/NARUC Federal and State Current Issues Collaborative and serves on the Committee on Electricity, the Committee on Gas, the Gas Subcommittee on Pipeline Safety, and the Task Force on Gas Planning. In these roles, she contributes to national policy discussions on energy reliability, safety, and infrastructure planning. She was also recently selected to serve as the First Vice President of the SEARUC Executive Committee.

Prior to her appointment to the FPSC, Commissioner Passidomo Smith worked in the FPSC's Office of General Counsel, providing legal analysis and recommendations on matters within the Commission's regulatory jurisdiction.

Commissioner Passidomo Smith graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Florida, earned her Juris Doctor from Washington and Lee University School of Law, and is a member of the Florida Bar. She also holds a Master of Business Administration from Florida State University.
