There is a growing interest in preserving rare, heirloom fruit varieties that are not often available commercially.
The 6th Annual Grafting and Scion Wood Exchange Saturday, April 18 at UW-Oshkosh, helped attendees learn how to make fruit trees and select their own rare fruit tree from hundreds of varieties available. They also learned about keeping bees and how to save seeds.
Held at Sage Hall, a team member disclosed how he has rediscovered a lost apple variety from Wisconsin!
The event was organized by the Super Seeds/SSFT and UWO-Sustainable Beekeeping clubs and sponsored by Biomedical and Automation Engineering majors at UW-Oshkosh, Oshkosh Food Co-op, Oshkosh Seed Savers and Maple Valley Orchards LLC.
