More Than 250 Artists From Across the Country Converge on Cary as Lazy Daze Returns to Downtown for 49th Year

  • Cary will host 250 artists from 19 states at the 49th Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival on Saturday and Sunday, August 23 and 24, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Cary Town Hall Campus.
  • Festival attendees are encouraged to use free shuttles from South Hills and Green Hope High School; fare-free GoCary fixed route services are also available.

Cary, N.C. - More than 250 artists from across the country will converge on Cary for the annual Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival on Cary Town Hall Campus in Downtown Cary on August 23 and 24. Lazy Daze is a juried art show and local favorite. To set the mood, the Academy Street Chalk Walk will take over the sidewalks from Downtown Cary Park to Town Hall Campus with stunning designs by 11 street painters from across the country. Within the festival footprint and sprinkled between artists, food, and four entertainment stages, experience hands-on crafts, demonstrations, and the Lazy Lounge, a place to retreat and recharge. New this year, check out the Inclusive Artist Market with a variety of unique creations by nine talented artisans with disabilities. Returning favorites include Kids Daze, a Kid Collectors Market, Art Festival Bingo, roaming entertainers, and an air-conditioned Play Zone. With limited parking downtown, take advantage of shuttles and public transit. Free shuttle buses will leave from South Hills Mall & Plaza, 1213 Buck Jones Road, and Green Hope High School, 2500 Carpenter Upchurch Road, from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Additionally, GoCary remains fare-free on all fixed routes; all routes lead downtown to the Cary Depot, just steps from the festival entrance. For patrons accessing the festival via rideshare, a designated drop-off area is available near the south entrance to the festival on Academy Street. Handicap-accessible parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis in the Cary Fire Department Administration Lot on N. Academy Street across from the Cary Train Depot. In preparation for Lazy Daze, Cary Town Hall Campus and the immediate surrounding streets will close at noon on Friday, August 22, and reopen by 9 p.m. on Sunday, August 24. Specifically, N. Academy Street will be closed from Chapel Hill Road to Chatham Street, and Wilkinson Avenue will be closed from N. Academy Street to E. Durham Road.
