"Bookstores are enjoying an extraordinary renaissance, with new Barnes & Noble stores opening across the country, as also so many new independent bookstores," said James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble. "What could be more exciting than to have Rebecca Yarros opening our latest, in Colorado Springs. No author better exemplifies the excitement of books and reading, and the unique pleasures of bookstores as places of discovery."

Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers.

Having fallen below 600 locations as recently as 2023, it now has over 700 bookstores. In 2025, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019. The bookseller will open over 60 new bookstores in 2026. This opening in Colorado Springs is the seventh new store to open in so far 2026.

Miranda Anderson, the Store Manager of the new Barnes & Noble in Colorado Springs, commented, "The most exciting aspect of opening the new store is the opportunity to create a vibrant, welcoming space where the community can connect and share their passion for books and reading. I look forward to engaging with book lovers through author events, children's crafts and Storytime, and book clubs. We are excited about the grand opening and cannot wait to share our store with the community!"
