Williamsville Man Sentenced for Child Sexual Abuse

Monday, October 19, 2026

Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that John A. Camardo, III, 47, of Williamsville, was sentenced this morning before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah Haendiges. Camardo received a determinate sentence of 8 years in prison followed by 10 years of post-release supervision. He will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.

Between on or about April 1, 2024, and on or about May 31, 2024, the defendant engaged in sexual intercourse with a victim who was less than 15-years-old. Between on or about April 1, 2025, and on or about June 20, 2026, the defendant engaged in two or more acts of sexual conduct with a second victim who was less than 13-years-old. The defendant was known to both victims. The crimes occurred at a location in the Town of Amherst.

In July 2026, Camardo pleaded guilty to one count of Rape in the Second Degree and one count of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the Second Degree (Class D violent felonies). The plea was offered with the consent of the victims. As a condition of the plea, Camardo was remanded while pending sentence. Today, final orders of protection were issued on behalf of the victims, which remain in effect until July 2054.

"I commend these two brave victims as their disclosures were essential to hold this defendant accountable for his crimes. I understand that it is incredibly difficult for crime victims, particularly survivors of sexual abuse, to come forward, but their cooperation is critical to uncover the truth and achieve justice. I encourage anyone who may have been victimized by this defendant, or anyone who has been the victim of a crime, to contact law enforcement. We have a team of specially-trained prosecutors and victim advocates who can provide support, protection and resources throughout the judicial process," said DA Mike Keane.

DA Keane commends Detective Sergeant Ron Smith and Detective John Fiore of the Amherst Police Department for their work in this investigation as well as the Child Advocacy Center at BestSelf and victim advocate Nicole Haffa.

The case was prosecuted by Chief Lynette M. Reda of the Training Bureau.
