Welcome Chief Building Official Troy Winterfield

The City of Key West is pleased to announce the appointment of Troy Winterfield as Chief Building Official.

Hailing from Anoka, Minnesota, one of the state's oldest cities, Winterfield sees a natural kinship between his hometown and Key West. Both places blend historic charm with vibrant new areas, welcome visitors from near and far, and share a strong connection to the water: Anoka, with its two rivers and floodplains, and Key West with its surrounding seas.

Before moving to Key West in 2022, Winterfield proudly served as the Building Official in Anoka. With over 45 years in the building trades, including 16 as a Building Official and Zoning Administrator, he brings deep knowledge and a steady hand to his role. Winterfield says he is honored to serve as Key West's Chief Building Official, taking great pride in helping the island grow in ways that are safe, sustainable, and true to its character.
