On July 5, 2026, at approximately 9:55 p.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) was notified of a traffic crash at the intersection of Dublin Boulevard and Union Boulevard. The preliminary investigation revealed a motorcycle was northbound on Union Boulevard when it struck a westbound pickup truck.
The motorcycle rider was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical intervention, the rider succumbed to his injuries. The Major Crash Team was notified and responded to lead the investigation. Speed is being investigated as a possible factor.
On July 6, 2026, CSPD was notified by the El Paso County Coroner's Office that the deceased rider had been positively identified as 20-year-old McCain Dean.
This incident marks the 31st traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2026. At this time last year, the city experienced 26 traffic fatalities. Over the past 365 days, there have been 60 traffic-related fatalities within the city.
