ABMC welcomes US Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium to Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery and Battle of the Bulge Monument at Bastogne

On Dec. 12, the American Battle Monuments Commission welcomed U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, Bill White, to Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery for a visit to honor American service members who fought and died during World War II. Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery Superintendent Carlos Gavilanes hosted the visit. The cemetery team was also present. White laid a wreath and toured the site, paying tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the liberation of Europe.

The next day, on Dec. 13, the Ambassador was hosted at the Battle of the Bulge Monument at Bastogne for a tour by ABMC Executive Director for Operations Thomas Spoehr.

The American Battle Monuments Commission sites are a constant reminder of Gen. John J. Pershing's promise that, "time will not dim the glory of their deeds."
