UW College of Law to Host 10th Circuit Court Arguments

A three-judge panel of the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments at the University of Wyoming's College of Law Wednesday, Sept. 24.

The event will offer students and the public the chance to observe arguments in four cases in the College of Law's William N. Brimmer Legal Education Center. The session, set to begin at 9 a.m., is open to the public, but seating is limited. Attendees should arrive well in advance of the scheduled time to allow for screening.

The three judges are Chief Judge Jerome Holmes; Greg Phillips, a UW College of Law graduate; and Joel Carson. The 10th Circuit is based in Denver and includes Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Utah.

"We are excited for our students to have the opportunity to watch oral advocacy in action," says Julie Hill, dean of the College of Law. "We appreciate the 10th Circuit judges and court staff for coming to Laramie."

Those wishing to attend will need an approved photo ID, such as a student or faculty ID, a driver's license or a passport. No weapons or potential weapons will be allowed; nor will signs or pamphlets; food or drink; or photography, filming or recording. Electronic devices are allowed, provided they do not disrupt court proceedings. Attendees are encouraged not to bring bags. If disruptive, attendees may be required to exit the courtroom and may not be permitted to re-enter.
