Ambassador of Belarus U. Baravikou visits Cambodia

On 26-28 August 2026, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Kingdom of Cambodia concurrently, Uladzimir Baravikou, visited Cambodia.

The Ambassador took part, as Belarus's representative, in the 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference (ISC-2) entitled 'Solidarity for Peace and Shared Prosperity: Strengthening International Law and Resolving Conflicts Peacefully', which took place on 26-28 August in Phnom Penh.

In his address, the Belarusian diplomat noted the importance of consolidating efforts to build a fair multipolar world order, ensure compliance with the norms of international law and resolve any inter-state disputes exclusively through peaceful dialogue. He emphasised that Belarus is a contributor to peace, stability and security in Europe.

Uladzimir Baravikou emphasised the need to eradicate the practice of applying unlawful unilateral coercive measures.

The Belarusian side supported the adoption of the Phnom Penh Declaration, the main principles of which are in line with Belarus's initiatives at the UN.

Uladzimir Baravikou, together with other heads of foreign delegations, was received by the King of Cambodia, Norodom Sihamoni, and took part in a meeting with the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Manet.

On the sidelines of the event, the Belarusian Ambassador held brief talks with the President of the Senate of Cambodia, Hun Sen, the Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference, Ek Nath Dhakal, as well as the heads of a number of foreign parliamentary delegations, during which he discussed ways of strengthening the parliamentary dimension of cooperation and supporting international peace initiatives.

On 27-28 August, Uladzimir Baravikou held a series of bilateral meetings at Cambodian government institutions.

During talks with the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, Meas Kim Heng, the parties exchanged views on topical issues on the international and regional agenda. They reviewed the progress made in implementing bilateral agreements and agreed on a schedule for forthcoming contacts within the framework of inter-ministerial cooperation.

Discussions were held with the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia and Co-Chair of the Joint Belarus-Cambodia Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation, Tekreth Kamrang, on preparations for the 5th meeting of the committee.

At a meeting with the Vice-President of the National Assembly of Cambodia and Chair of the 'Cambodia-Belarus' parliamentary friendship group, Vong Sauth, the focus was on strengthening inter-parliamentary dialogue and expanding inter-party contacts.
