Gov. Whitmer Makes Appointment to the Bench

LANSING, Mich. -Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the appointment of Judge Jason Bomia to the 37th Circuit Court in Calhoun County.

"I am proud to appoint Judge Jason Bomia to the 37th Circuit Court," said Governor Whitmer. "Judge Bomia is a skilled legal professional who brings years of experience and dedication to his community. I am confident that he will serve the people of Michigan admirably and uphold the rule of law."

37th Circuit Court - Calhoun County

Judge Jason Bomia, of Battle Creek, is the chief judge on the 10th District Court in Calhoun County, where he has served since 2019. Judge Bomia previously served as an attorney at Schroeder DeGraw, PLLC. Judge Bomia is a life member of the Battle Creek Chapter of the NAACP and is the past president of the Calhoun County Bar Association. Bomia is also president-elect of the District Judges Association and serves on the board of Goodwill Industries of Central Michigan's Heartland.

Judge Jason Bomia holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Siena Heights College and a Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law.

"I am deeply honored by Governor Whitmer's confidence in me and grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of Calhoun County as a Judge of the 37th Circuit Court," said Judge Bomia. "Throughout my career, I have been committed to faithfully applying the law, treating every person with dignity and respect, and working to ensure that our courts are fair, accessible, and worthy of the public's trust. I look forward to continuing that commitment in this new role and serving our community with integrity, humility, and dedication."

This appointment was made to fill a partial term following the resignation of Judge Brian K. Kirkham. Judge Bomia's term will expire at twelve o'clock noon on January 1, 2029.
