WASHINGTON, D.C.- On March 19, 2026, U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez (NM-02)called for a vote to fund the TSA, FEMA, Coast Guard, and other Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agencies not associated with the Administration's mass raids and deportation campaign that have resulted in the arrest, detainment, and death of American citizens.
Rep. Vasquez joined the discharge petition put forth by Appropriations Chair Rep. Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) to bring a vote to end the DHS shutdown and restore paychecks for dedicated federal workers. Rep. Vasquez remains strong in his push for much-needed reforms at ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
"I am steadfast in my demand to see serious, substantive reform for ICE, but Congressional Republicans continue to hold the TSA, FEMA, Coast Guard, and other core agencies hostage rather than negotiate commonsense reforms for ICE," said Vasquez. "It's time for Congressional Republicans to bring this vote to the floor and stop blocking pay for the people who keep our airports running, help communities recover from disasters, and safeguard our coasts and waterways."
Currently, the discharge petitionhas 175 signatories, with 218 signatures required to force Speaker Mike Johnson to bring a vote on the funding bill to the House floor.
