‘A River Runs Through It: Page to Stage’ set for Sept. 3 at Montana State

BOZEMAN - Montana State University will host a free community event this week that celebrates Norman Maclean's beloved novella "A River Runs Through It" through words and song.
"A River Runs Through It: Page to Stage" will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at the MSU Duck Pond.
The event will preview musical works from a new opera, "A River Runs Through It," that was commissioned by Bozeman-based Opera Montana. In addition, actor John Hosking will read passages from Maclean's novella that inspired the musical selections. The event is sponsored by MSU and the Trust for Public Land.
"We are excited for attendees to experience the powerful connection between the original text and its operatic adaptation in a beautiful outdoor setting," said Doralyn Rossman, dean of the MSU Library and coordinator of the event.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or low chairs; seating will not be provided. Individuals planning to attend are also asked to register for a free spot at www.operamontana.org/event/a-river-runs-through-it-page-to-stage-msu-duck-pond.
