Reps. Lawler and Gottheimer Reintroduce Bipartisan Bill to Improve Coverage for Dyspraxia/DCD

Washington, D.C. - 10/9/25… During National Dyspraxia/Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) Awareness Week, Representatives Mike Lawler (NY-17) and Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05) reintroduced the Gabriel Rosenberg Dyspraxia/DCD Coverage Act, bipartisan legislation to help ensure healthcare coverage for children and adults living with dyspraxia, also known as Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD).

Dyspraxia/DCD is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects fine and gross motor skills, balance, and coordination. Despite being as common as ADHD and affecting approximately 5-6% of the population, dyspraxia remains widely misunderstood, leading to frequent underdiagnosis, misdiagnosis, and inadequate treatment.

The Gabriel Rosenberg Dyspraxia/DCD Coverage Act directs the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to study how treatment for dyspraxia/DCD is currently covered by private and public health insurance programs, including Medicare, Medicaid, and group health plans, and to identify barriers to coverage and recommendations for improving access to care.

"Dyspraxia impacts nearly one in twenty Americans, roughly one student in every classroom across our country. Our bipartisan bill will identify gaps in insurance coverage and help ensure that every child and adult living with dyspraxia can access the care and support they deserve," said Congressman Lawler.

"We know that individuals with dyspraxia are left largely untreated. We must do more to provide support and hope to the millions of Americans who struggle every day with this disorder. Our bipartisan legislation will help close the coverage gap and ensure that children and adults struggling with dyspraxia have access to the care they need and deserve," said Congressman Gottheimer.

The bill is named in honor of Gabriel Rosenberg, who was diagnosed with dyspraxia at age three. After years of seeking support for their child, Gabriel's parents, Danielle and Sidney Rosenberg, founded Dyspraxia DCD America (formerly The Spotlight Foundation for Dyspraxia and DCD) in 2019 to advocate for awareness, research, and resources for families navigating the condition.
