Budrys to meet with the United States Secretaries of State and Treasury in Washington, D.C.

Kęstutis Budrys, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, is on a working visit to the United States of America from 10 to 12 November.

During his visit to Washington, D.C., the Minister will meet with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, and other U.S. administration officials, representatives of U.S. companies, think tanks, and members of the Lithuanian community. During his visit to the United States, Budrys will also travel to New York, where he will meet with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and discuss investment opportunities in Lithuania with U.S. business representatives.

The purpose of this particularly important visit is to strengthen the strategic partnership between Lithuania and the U.S. in the areas of defence, security, and economic resilience, to discuss joint responses to hybrid threats, and to ensure the continued presence of U.S. troops in Lithuania.

On 24 January 2025, Budrys became one of the first Foreign Ministers to speak by phone with the then newly-appointed Secretary of State, and a meeting between the Baltic Foreign Ministers and Rubio was held in Washington, D.C., on 25 March 2025.
