As summer heat and winter storms become more frequent and intense due to climate change, the City of Sacramento and SacRT are taking action to prepare its public transportation system for potential challenges.
Through a new planning effort called SacAdapt, the agencies are creating an actionable roadmap to strengthen Sacramento's transportation infrastructure against the impacts of extreme weather. This plan is funded by a Caltrans Adaptation Planning Grant and will address issues like extreme heat, flooding, and high winds, ensuring the city's transportation system is resilient and ready for the future.
"The key starting point is understanding all of the ways that extreme weather is impacting our transportation system today," said the City's Sustainability Analyst Sarah Kolarik. "We want to hear from the public-how has extreme weather affected the way you get around Sacramento?"
Sharing your voice will help ensure the plan reflects the real experiences and everyday needs of all Sacramentans.

While the City works to prepare our infrastructure, community members can prepare themselves and their families for extreme weather events using the City's Disaster Preparedness resources.
