The EU launches the first leg of its flagship human rights cultural exhibition in Canberra

The EU officially opens LOVING: Photographs of Men in Love 1850s - 1950s in Canberra, Australia.

LOVING: Photographs of Men in Love 1850s - 1950s is a striking photographic display of a century's worth of images of same-sex couples.

The LOVING exhibition was officially launched in Canberra in December. It's currently on display at Canberra Museum and Gallery (CMAG), and set to tour Australia, with upcoming showings in Melbourne (14 Jan - 22 Feb), Sydney, the Gold Coast, and Tasmania.

The Delegation of the European Union to Australia brought the exhibition to the country following its debut in Geneva.

Throughout history, the couples depicted in the images have lived in secret, facing social constraints forbidding them the freedom to love openly. LOVING reminds us that to love and be loved you need freedom, acceptance, inclusivity and equality.

The EU and Australia are united in their view of equality as a fundamental human right. Together, we continue to work to ensure all people can live authentically.
