WOODBRIDGE TOWNSHIP STAFFORD ROAD SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENTS

NJ I-Bank and NJDEP Helping to Improve New Jersey's Infrastructure, One Project at a Time

Woodbridge Township recently closed on a $6.5 million New Jersey Water Bank loan to address chronic sanitary sewer issues. During heavy rain, the system surcharges and causes sewage backups in homes along Stafford Road. While most pipes and manholes are in good condition, some segments do not meet NJDEP capacity requirements, and the area experiences excessive stormwater infiltration and inflow, combined with limited downstream capacity.

The project will include an infiltration/inflow study and repairs, replacement of 3,500 linear feet of 10-inch sewer with a larger pipe from Stafford Road to the 48-inch RVSA trunkline, and installation of grinder pumps for 10 Stafford Road homes.

These upgrades will improve performance during peak flows, reduce backups and overflows, protect water quality, and lower long-term maintenance and operating costs. Grinder pumps will provide near-term relief for affected homes while larger system improvements are completed.
