Joint Statement from Governors Beshear and Whitmer on Minnesota

The following is a statement from DGA Chair Governor Andy Beshear and DGA Vice Chair Governor Gretchen Whitmer:

"The Trump Administration has unleashed chaos and division in Minnesota. Communities across the nation are on edge after a woman was killed and a man was shot. Threatening to invoke the Insurrection Act is reckless and dangerous.

"Our country is too divided. In moments like these, real leaders do the right thing and bring people together. You can't do that by attacking states.

"We stand with Governor Walz, who has made it clear that violence is not acceptable and is calling to lower the temperature. We also call on our country's Republican governors to join us in defending states' rights by speaking out against these threats for a chaotic and unAmerican federal takeover."
