Staff News From Live Team

We're excited to announce staff news from the Live team.

If there's a desk in the newsroom that covers breaking news, chances are Amanda E. Newman has not merely worked on it but excelled there. She's had editing stints on International, National, Live, Express, Washington, the News Desk and most recently Politics, and now we're excited to announce that she is joining the Live team in New York as a senior editor.

Amanda started on the Flex desk in May 2023 and quickly showed her capacity for excellent judgment and hunger for breaking news. During her time on Flex, she worked on this story that originated with Graphics about how hundreds of post-election donors have benefited from President Trump's return to office. More recently, she's worked on stories about such wide-ranging subjects as Jeffrey Epstein, Graham Platner, the war with Iran, redistricting efforts across the country and the Artemis II mission.

Pete Blair, the editor of the Flex desk, said: "She is one of those editors who seems to gravitate toward the biggest stories of the day, whether from International, National, Washington, Politics or Express - all of which Amanda has spent extended time on during her three years as a Flex editor, and all of which would tell you she's unflappable under pressure. With a track record like that, I can't think of a more logical place for her to go than Live."

Amanda grew up in New England and began her career at The Citizen of Laconia, a small newspaper in New Hampshire. She then spent nearly five years at The Valley News in West Lebanon, N.H., and joined The Times's Editing Center in Gainesville, Fla., in 2019. She moved back to the Northeast in 2021 and started on the News Print Hub shortly after.
