Campbell signs Assured Admission Agreement with Carteret CC

May 5, 2026

MOREHEAD CITY - Carteret Community College joined the growing list of two-year schools that now provide a clear, supportive pathway for students interested in continuing their education at Campbell University.

Campbell and the Morehead City-based school signed a Assured Admission Agreement on May 4, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding that guarantees eligible Carteret students admission to Campbell University upon completion of their Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree.

"We are grateful to our colleagues at Carteret Community College for the productive partnership that has now led to this important agreement," President Dr. William M. Downs said. "With the stroke of a pen, we have dismantled barriers and created pathways that will make it so much easier for students to move swiftly and easily toward their aspirations of a four-year degree.

"This is a good day for our respective institutions, and it is a great day for North Carolina families."

The announcement is part of a greater Campbell University initiative to increase undergraduate enrollment, laid out in the Strategic Plan unveiled by Downs this year.

Through the program, Carteret students enrolled in Associate in Arts or Associate in Science programs who meet established requirements - including maintaining good academic standing and completing the application process - will benefit from early access to admissions, financial aid information, and transition support services at Campbell University.

"This agreement strengthens our commitment to student success by providing a seamless transition from Carteret to a respected four-year institution," said Dr. Tracy Mancini, president of Carteret Community College. "We are excited to partner with Campbell University to expand access to high-quality educational opportunities for our students."

The partnership builds on North Carolina's existing articulation agreements and reflects a shared commitment to strengthening workforce development and expanding educational attainment across the state. In addition to assured admission, participating students will have opportunities to connect with Campbell faculty and staff, explore academic programs, and engage with university resources prior to transfer, helping ensure a smooth and successful transition.
