Two Men Indicted for May 2025 Fight-Related Death Downtown

The investigation into the May 2025 fight-related death of Oliver Paul McConnell, 25, on Church Street near Printers Alley has resulted in the indictment of two men.

William Paul Bingham Jr., 24, of Lewisburg, and Alex Javelosa, 26, of Nashville, are both jailed on charges of reckless homicide and aggravated assault resulting in death. A Criminal Court judge sent Bingham's bond at $100,000, Javelosa's at $75,000.

Central Precinct officers and Nashville Fire Department personnel responded to the fight scene at 1:45 a.m. on May 24, 2025, and found McConnell unconscious. He was transported to Vanderbilt where he was diagnosed with a critical head injury. He died shortly thereafter. The investigation showed McConnell was involved in a fight with two men (Bingham and Javelosa), who were identified through witness accounts and surveillance video.
