EMC's 'Excellent' Ratings Affirmed by AM Best | EMC Insurance

DES MOINES, Iowa (Oct. 27, 2025)-EMC Insurance announced today that rating agency AM Best has affirmed the "Excellent" category Financial Strength Ratings and Long-Term Issuer Credit Ratings for EMC Insurance and EMC Life:

EMC Insurance (EMC) and its five property/casualty subsidiaries*

• Financial Strength Rating (FSR) of A (Excellent)
• Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating (Long-Term ICR) of "a" (Excellent)
• In its review, AM Best recognized EMC's balance sheet strength as "very strong," as well as its adequate operating performance, neutral business profile and appropriate enterprise risk management
• Outlook remains stable

EMC Life

• Financial Strength Rating (FSR) of A- (Excellent)
• Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating (Long-Term ICR) of "a-" (Excellent)
• Outlook remains stable

• AM Best deemed EMC Life's balance sheet very strong and its enterprise risk management appropriate

UPDATE (Dec. 12, 2025): In December 2025, EMC Insurance and Avocet Partners announced a definitive agreement for the sale of EMC's ownership interest in EMC Life. Due to this announcement, AM Best has changed its rating for EMC Life.
