Beloved NHK Dramas to Stream on Netflix Worldwide Starting June 22

Netflix today announced it will begin streaming a wide selection of NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) drama series starting June 22, 2026. Beloved titles from NHK's celebrated lineup - including Taiga dramas, morning serials and Drama 10 series - will arrive on Netflix in a first wave this June, with additional titles rolling out through early 2027, bringing NHK's rich drama storytelling to wider audiences in Japan and around the world.

NHK dramas have long been a core part of Japanese entertainment culture. Taiga dramas depict historical figures and pivotal moments in Japanese history on an epic scale; morning serials portray everyday life, family, work and people chasing their dreams; and Drama 10 series explore contemporary social issues, different ways of living and complex human relationships. Through this rollout, Netflix will offer opportunities for both longtime fans and first-time viewers to discover and revisit these shows.

The first wave of titles launching June 22 includes six series: the Taiga drama Strategist KANBE ; the morning serial Mampuku ; Drama 10's Descending Stories: A Life in Rakugo , The Science Club and Tokyo Salad Bowl ; and the premium drama My Family . A total of 20 NHK drama titles are scheduled to stream on Netflix over the course of the year.

Netflix has long partnered with major Japanese broadcasters to bring Japanese drama to audiences in Japan and globally. The addition of NHK titles marks a significant expansion of that commitment. By bringing works nurtured by Japan's broadcasters over many years to viewers in more than 190 countries, Netflix will continue to champion Japan's outstanding entertainment culture on the world stage.

All titles will be available across a wide range of devices, including TVs, smartphones and tablets - allowing viewers to start from episode one, catch up on a series they missed, or binge over the weekend, all on their own schedule. Personalized recommendations will also help members discover titles they may not yet know and find stories that speak to them.

Netflix will continue working with Japanese broadcasters and production partners to bring more of Japan's entertainment - from beloved classics to new must-watch hits - to audiences everywhere.
