City of Boulder Releases 2026 Drinking Water Quality Report

The City of Boulder is committed to providing safe and high-quality drinking water to the community. Each year, the city releases a water quality report to share important information about Boulder's drinking water, water sources and regulatory monitoring results. The 2026 report (PDF) is now available online.

Key takeaways include:

  • The city routinely monitors drinking water and is required to meet federal and state standards for certain water quality parameters. The city met these water quality standards and there were no violations in 2025.
  • The city has several high-quality sources of drinking water that originate in high mountain areas upstream from most impacts. The city's Source Water Protection Plan identifies potential contaminant sources and strategies the city implements to protect the water supply.
  • The city completed an initial Water Service Line Inventory to meet federal regulations and posted results on the inventory map. No lead lines were found. Community members who live or work in pre-1956 structures are encouraged to verify their pipes are not made of lead if they haven't already done so and share that information with city staff via an online tool.

The city declared a Drought Watch in April and is asking community members for voluntary reductions in water use. The report includes six simple ways you can reduce your outdoor water use. Find more information at bldr.fyi/conservewater.
