Interim Provost Zeynep Hansen selected Michelle Armstrong to serve as the interim dean of Albertsons Library. This appointment is effective July 19, 2026.
Armstrong joined Boise State in 2005 and has served as associate dean of Albertsons Library since 2018. She has been instrumental in developing the Boise State Experts Portal for faculty, and has a strong track record in initiating and leading successful, long-lasting university-wide research information management systems. Armstrong has served as a member of the library's Research Data Management Group and Head of the Scholarly Communications and Data Management unit. She has substantial experience leading the library through periods of major organizational change and previously served as the interim dean for the library from June 2021 to July 2022.
Armstrong takes on the role as Albertsons Library prepares for the student welcome activities that begin fall semester. She will lead the library's continued work to serve as a vital resource for students, faculty and staff at Boise State.
Armstrong said of the appointment, "I am deeply honored by the opportunity to serve as Interim Dean of Albertsons Library. Every day I have the privilege of working with an extraordinarily talented and dedicated library faculty and staff who are committed to working alongside our students, faculty, and researchers to advance Boise State's mission. Albertsons Library plays a vital role in the life of the university, and we look forward to continuing collaborating with colleagues across campus in fulfilling Boise State's commitment to student success and serving Idaho."
Armstrong will serve in the role until a national search can be conducted for a permanent dean.
