DGA Statement on Tom Leonard Jumping Into the Michigan Gubernatorial Race

Today, Democratic Governors Association Communications Director Sam Newton released the following statement on failed candidate Tom Leonard joining Michigan's crowded and chaotic Republican primary:

"Tom Leonard is the latest failed statewide candidate to jump into a chaotic Republican primary that is already stuffed with flawed right-wing candidates. Leonard's record of fighting against our public schools, voting against Medicaid expansion, and supporting an extreme abortion ban was rejected by Michiganders in 2018 and remains squarely out-of-touch with voters.

"Whether it's John James, Aric Nesbitt, or Tom Leonard, we know the GOP will be stuck with a nominee who will put their own harmful partisan agenda first - at the expense of everyday Michigan families."
