Meijer Continues Hunger Relief Focus in Northeast Ohio, Supporting Four Major Food Banks

Retailer announces $200,000 donation to Harvest for Hunger, one of the largest annual food and funds drives in the nation

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Meijer is continuing its commitment to hunger relief in Northeast Ohio with a $200,000 donation to the 2026 Harvest for Hunger Campaign, an annual springtime campaign designed to assist four local food banks across 21 counties in the fight against hunger.

The campaign is coordinated by the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, Greater Cleveland Food Bank, Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley, and Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio. Funds raised through the campaign help these food banks and their network of partner agencies provide meals and groceries to individuals and families facing food insecurity.

"For more than 90 years, Meijer has been dedicated to fighting hunger and supporting families in the communities we serve," said Vik Srinivasan, Chief Administration Officer at Meijer. "This commitment is reflected in our support of the Harvest for Hunger campaign, ensuring individuals and families in Northeast Ohio have reliable access to nutritious meals now and in the future."

Harvest for Hunger raises critical support at a time when many families are balancing higher costs and limited resources. The annual campaign helps ensure food banks and local pantries have the products and purchasing power needed to keep shelves stocked and meet increased demand. The 2025 campaign set a new record, collecting more than $11 million and thousands of pounds of food to provide over 33 million nutritious meals for local hunger relief.

Meijer's donation will support the four coordinating food banks and their partner agencies serving Northeast Ohio communities throughout the campaign period. This is the third year the retailer has supported the Harvest for Hunger campaign..

Ohio was the first state Meijer expanded to outside of Michigan. The retailer employs more than 14,000 team members statewide at stores and its distribution and manufacturing facilities in Tipp City. Since its first store opened in Ohio, Meijer has been committed to supporting the causes, events, and teams that matter most to Ohioans. In Northeast Ohio, that includes fighting hunger, supporting community treasures like the Cleveland Metroparks, and partnering with fan favorites like the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, and Ohio State University Athletics.
