Statement on summoning the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the MFA

31.07.2026

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland has summoned the ambassador designate of the Russian Federation to Poland in connection with yesterday's incursion by a Russian cruise missile into the Polish airspace. The Russian diplomat was handed a note of protest by Robert Kupiecki, undersecretary of state at the MFA and National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister.

Poland strongly condemns what constitutes yet another hostile action jeopardising the security of a sovereign state and its people. The Polish side firmly demands that the authorities of the Russian Federation immediately cease any activity that may threaten the life and health of Poles and pose a real risk of causing an air traffic disaster. Any attempt to escalate tensions at the EU and NATO border is completely unacceptable.

The authorities of the Republic of Poland, working in full coordination with their allies and partners, have taken all steps necessary to secure the border, including the Polish airspace.

Furthermore, Poland yet again calls upon Russia to immediately stop its unlawful aggression against Ukraine that has led to an enormous civilian death toll.
