Salinas Fire Department 2025 at a Glance

Published on May 05, 2026

It's been a busy year for the Salinas Fire Department. In 2025, crews responded to more than 17,800 calls for service, everything from medical emergencies to structure fires. As the city continues to grow, so does the need for fast, reliable emergency response.

The department currently has 108 personnel working out of six fire stations, serving over 160,000 residents. Over the past year, firefighters handled 17,858 total incidents, including 153 residential fires. Thanks to their efforts, an estimated $68.9 million in property was saved. Crews also helped save 50 lives during cardiac arrest emergencies.

Community Connection

SFD stays active in the community, not just during emergencies. In 2025, crews took part in about 100 public education events, hosted ride along, and supported local events. The Fire Cadet Program also grew, giving 20 young people hands on experience and a closer look at a future career in the fire service.

Equipment and Facilities

Keeping equipment up to date is an ongoing effort. New fire engines and apparatus are on the way to replace older units, although long wait times remain a challenge. The remodel of Fire

Station 1 was another big step forward, improving safety and working conditions for firefighters.
