American Campus Communities and Texas Christian University Mark Topping Out Milestone for Transformative On-Campus Housing Development

New residential community adds over 2,200 beds for first- and second-year students, supporting TCU's strategic growth and commitment to the student experience

FORT WORTH, Texas - July 31, 2026 - Texas Christian University, American Campus Communities (ACC), one of the nation's largest student housing provider and a Blackstone Real Estate portfolio company, and The Beck Group today marked a key topping out milestone for a landmark on-campus residential development that will reshape the student living experience and support the university's long-term growth strategy.

Hosted by The Beck Group, the topping out ceremony marked the completion of the buildings' structural framework and signaled continued progress on the new residential community, which will deliver more than 2,200 beds across a mix of modern first-year residence halls and townhome-style housing for sophomores. The community is expected to open in fall 2027.

Designed in partnership with Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA), the buildings will align with new design standards outlined in TCU's campus master plan, supporting architectural consistency and a seamless connection to the broader campus environment.

"RAMSA is so very proud to be part of TCU's transformational expansion of its student residential experience. The forest of cranes that have gotten us to this day testify to Texas Christian University's boldness and foresight in creating superb living spaces for generations of Horned Frogs to come. We thank TCU for its faith in us and look forward to the first move-in day!"

"The first-year experience lays the foundation for academic success, personal growth and lifelong connection," said Jamie Wilhelm, chief development officer at American Campus Communities. "We're proud to serve as a strategic partner to TCU and support one of the most critical chapters in a student's journey. By creating environments that foster belonging, well-being and engagement, we're helping students make the most of their college experience from the moment they step on campus."

Delivered through a third-party, fee-based development structure, the project combines TCU's long-term residential vision with ACC's development expertise to advance the university's housing strategy while maintaining institutional ownership.

The new communities were shaped by extensive student input, including focus groups that helped guide layout, amenities and social spaces. Pod-style residence halls will foster community-building for first-year students, while townhomes will offer upper-division students greater independence, all within close proximity to campus life. Planned features include academic support spaces, flexible study zones with natural light, shared lounges, outdoor courtyards and wellness-focused amenities designed to support learning, connection and balance.

"Today's milestone represents an important step in advancing TCU's commitment to providing an exceptional student experience," said Kathy Cavins-Tull, vice chancellor for student affairs at Texas Christian University. "Residential life plays a critical role in helping students build community, develop independence and thrive throughout their college experience. These new communities reflect the priorities of the university's strategic plan, Lead On: Values in Action, by creating spaces intentionally designed to foster connection, learning and personal growth while supporting the continued growth and evolution of our campus community."

Construction remains on schedule, with the new residential community expected to welcome students for the Fall 2027 semester. The topping out milestone represents a significant step toward delivering one of the largest residential investments in TCU's history.
