The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a telephone conversation today with the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, ahead of the NATO Summit in Ankara.
The two leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to the development of the transatlantic relationship and to common defence within NATO, both highlighting the importance of the Southern Flank.
The conversation also provided an opportunity for an exchange of views on the situation in Libya, including cooperation in combatting irregular migration flows and human trafficking.
Lastly, the two leaders reaffirmed their personal commitment to strengthening bilateral relations at all levels and agreed to meet in Ankara next week.
